Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. She was raised by an unmarried mother, who worked as a nurse. Her interest in theatre during the holidays by her famous father. She was a student of acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Following her graduation at Brown University, she started making her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. In the space of two years from the time, her debut film was released and the next year she made her television debut. Since then, she's appeared in numerous films, television productions and stage plays. In her long professional career, she's received numerous awards. These include the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Her nominations include five Tony Awards, and three Academy Award nominations. But, in spite of her distinctions and awards, theatre is still her passion and she is determined to play on the stage and on screen.
