April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion for songwriting. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. When April was 14 years old, she spent long hours making song concepts and perfecting her music. Soon after she began taking trips to write with father in NY as well as LA. April added other themes to the tune "Take My Hand" for a few of her acquaintances who faced concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart collaborates with famous cosmetics brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. She was born with no left hand, and it creates her unique. But this isn't the only thing about her. As a result Lockhart's Instagram account does not shy away from her disability, but the focus isn't on it neither. The point? We all have multiple aspects of identities and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville home, says that I don't wish for my physical appearance to define my character. I'm much more than my physical self. But it does not affect my everyday life. I still do all the things I normally would and have adapted to my disabilities. Since it's a part of who I am and something worthy of discussion. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey is one that will last an entire lifetime. She can be a role model in this regard. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of being uncomfortable with her physique and being uncomfortable wearing some clothing types that exposed her arms. She is able to wear anything she'd like, and is proud to share photos of herself dressed in her favorite outfits. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I believe that you'll ever get in that place," she said. This is true for everyone regardless of levels of anxiety. People you associate yourself with who truly know your personal story and who can look through your eyes are the most important people who can remind you of the things you're worrying about.
